Mark users (Arbalest, Houndmaster, Bounty Hunter) work well with Occultist as he does not suffer much damage-wise from using his mark ability instead of attacking directly (as he has low base damage and bad accuracy with his stab) unlike the mark users.

He offers a lot more utility and damage prevention than Vestal does, but can't sustain a party's health reliably once they inevitably take damage, so bring backup healing. Occultist works best when combined with a lot of stunning and some reliable off-healing. She's the only class that can effectively take on a party's healing duties on her own, but as a consequence isn't very good at anything else (mostly due to fairly average abilities combined with low ACC and an intense need for healing trinkets in place of ACC/stun trinkets). Her abilities are somewhat wasted on a party that has significant off-healing or self-healing. Vestal works best with squishy heroes who need to be at full health to not be at risk of death, like Graverobber. One of the best parts of Darkest Dungeon is experimenting with your own parties, but I'll give some guidelines. (That said popping the ♥♥♥ transform normally isn't good. Second team has on-board stress healing, prot stripping, mark synergy (although I almost never use it), plenty of reach including the backline cleave and stuns up to rank 3, the MAA again, and if you want you can pop the ♥♥♥ and go ham. Everyone has a stun (although the GR shouldn't be using theirs). Everyone can hit rank 3 and 3.5 can hit rank 4. I never actually need to, but it is nice for assisting with AOE hits.įirst team has blight, bleed, the MAA, disease curing, and the easy-to-use vestal. If the OCC manages to roll low, everyone can heal themselves.

This is still pretty awkward if you want to use the stress relief, but the option is there. You can swap out the HEL for a hound, and put the MAA in front. It is a little finicky about position, since the MAA wants to move forward for his stun but the HEL wants to stay put. I find if you simply go for best-in-slot you get a great team. Still think quad houndmaster is better, though admittedly I haven't tried the abom variant.
